About Carolyn Mader

I want to start by giving you a glimpse of my philosophy by quoting the late great psychologist Carl Rodgers who said, “The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” You are enough. Whatever your reason for pursuing counseling, I’m just happy you are here.

Your story isn’t over. You’re still writing it and seeking counseling is a great first step toward your new beginning! I understand if you’ve never sought therapy before how intimidating it can feel. I also understand that once in therapy, you want to set attainable therapeutic goals. I have a heart to help couples, children/teens, and individuals meet goals and thrive to gain a greater understanding of why they think, feel, and behave the way they do. I also have encountered many strong and courageous people and couples who have sought healing and come out the other side confident and unwilling to accept less than the best for themselves. This awaits you too!

My counseling style centers upon using cognitive behavior and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT)-based approaches to overcome negative patterns of thinking that have adapted over time and through traumatic histories. I believe in working through anger and walking through the processing of grief to find healing. We will set goals and create a treatment plan that works best for your situation and circumstance. I offer faith-based approaches (if desired). As a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist, I specialize in the area of betrayal trauma, but I see clients of all ages and seasons of life.
