Infidelity Therapy in Fort Collins, Greeley, Windsor, and Loveland, CO

When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending. -Brené Brown

Mending Hearts Counseling offers betrayal trauma therapy and treatment for infidelity for those in Fort Collins, Greeley, Windsor, Loveland, and northern Colorado. My trauma therapy and counseling will help you to work through and beyond your current pain. Betrayal trauma is when someone with whom you are dependent upon and deeply attached to betrays your trust and lets you down in a significant way. Some examples of betrayal trauma in marriage include:

  • Your spouse/partner has had an affair (sexual or emotional)
  • You discover your spouse/partner has been secretly viewing pornography, visited chat rooms, received massages, solicited others for connection, etc.
  • When you discover your spouse/partner has contracted an STD or another infectious disease when you thought they were faithful to you.
  • You discover your spouse/partner has lied to you about finances.

After betrayal trauma, you’re likely wondering whether you ever knew your spouse/partner at all. You’re likely so devastated by the betrayal that processing it seems impossible. Common betrayal trauma symptoms include loss of appetite or overeating, over exercise, loss of sleep, inability or no desire to engage in social activity (isolating), depression, uncontrollable emotional outbursts, anxiety, headache/stomach pain and other somatic symptoms, loss of memory, negative body image, post-traumatic stress, and desire to control spouse/partner in all aspects of life so as to protect yourself from additional hurt. You’re not alone. I help spouses/partners who have experienced the betrayal trauma that comes with finding out their loved one has sought sexual satisfaction with others, perhaps for years without them being aware.  You understandably have a great deal of grief, heartbreak, and anger to process and work through.

I’ll work with you to help you process through the anger, pain, and grief to find healing. It’s a very confusing and hard time. The entire family is under stress when the an addiction or infidelity is exposed. I provide individual and couples counseling (see Couples Counseling page) as well as work groups for support. I also offer faith-based approaches (if requested). I can help you get to the other side of this sorrow where there’s healing and happiness again.

Don’t let another day go by! If you live in northern Colorado (Fort Collins, Greeley, Windsor, Loveland), get help for your betrayal trauma today. Call to make an appointment. I’ll return your call within 24 hours.
